‘This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in’.

So says Wendy from Canada following her visit in August 2022.

Please call 01793 791401 or email jhowes@meadowbankhouse.com to book direct.

Jane welcomes you to our beautiful and bright Bed and Breakfast in the lovely village of Liddington just outside Swindon, watch the gorgeous North Wessex Downs film of the local area on our location page.

We have three luxurious double rooms with a choice of modern private facilities or shared bathroom. The guest sitting room has lovely views over the garden and surrounding countryside. French windows open to a terrace with outside seating to enjoy warm evenings and there is a log fire for when it is not so warm.  Wireless internet is available throughout the house.

A full Wiltshire breakfast, using as many local ingredients and home-made dishes as possible, is freshly prepared and served each morning. Other choices, including Jane’s award winning healthy breakfast, seasonal dishes and legendary American pancakes with maple syrup are always on offer. We try to make all our own bread, compote, jams and marmalades and have been known to cure our own bacon.

Meadowbank House is just 5 minutes from junction 15 of the M4. The Great Western Hospital is less than 5 minutes and Swindon town centre is less than 15 minutes. The Ridgeway National trail is close by and we give walkers an especially warm welcome. We want to provide a unique home away from home atmosphere for guests who come to work in the area and are looking for somewhere really special to make their base.

From September 2022 we have an EV charger available for guests with an electric car or van.

We can provide transport to collect and transfer you or your luggage to your next destination particularly if you are walking The Ridgeway National Trail. Go to our Short Breaks page for details of our great car free holiday.

Liddington has one friendly village pub for drinks and evening meals and there are other great pubs in the villages around Liddington.

There are photographs of the rooms and the garden as well as local views around the village on the Gallery page.

There is a hill to which I used to resort….. the labour of walking three miles to it, all the while gradually ascending, seemed to clear my blood of the heaviness accumulated at home… ” Quoted from The Story of my Heart, by Richard Jefferies, 1883.

This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in! It is a beautiful home with comfortable beds. The breakfasts were outstanding with fruit from the garden and local products. It is close to the motorway for access but also very quiet. The best thing about Meadowbank House is Jane’s warm and generous hospitality and knowledge of the area. Jane even delivered something we forgot to leave with our family we were visiting. Highly recommended.

Dear Jane,

Although perhaps unusual to do this, nevertheless I feel I must thank you
and your husband a final time for your most excellent hospitality last
Friday night, especially as my daughter talked again about it on the phone
this evening and how wonderful it was.

You went well beyond the bounds of normal hospitality to not only dry out
our sodden boots and clothes but also lend some of us (my less well prepared
daughter in particular) socks & shoes so we could go out to the pub. With
the friendly welcome, lovely rooms and excellent breakfast it was just
perfect.

Just to finish – the next day was much better and we arrived in Wantage
dry, if not a bit stiff.

Our two night stay was brilliant thanks to your hospitality. We would recommend this B and B to anyone! S& T

Picture perfect, just how you imagine the best B and B, thank you for your thoughtfulness and delicious food.

Wonderful hospitality, most comfy bed and beautiful room. Breakfast was delicious, thank you for your warm welcome. K & B

I stayed at this B&B while I was working in Swindon for a few weeks. The bed was really comfy and its quiet location is great for a peaceful night’s sleep. Jane’s breakfasts were all so yummy-blueberry pancakes were my favorite but other guests’ Wiltshire breakfasts looked great too.

This is a most charming B&B. Jane and Matthew are the really lovely owners, and nothing has been too much trouble. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and it has been a perfect location for working at the Great Western Hospital, which is either a short walk, or a very short car journey. It has felt like a (really beautiful) home away from home, and Jane and Matthew even warm up food for you in the evenings, so you don’t have to go out to eat after a long day.The food is superb.

My wife and I and one other couple booked Meadowbank House so we could walk the first half of the Ridgeway. Jane could not have been more helpful during the booking and planning process. When we arrived at 0930 on Saturday morning Jane’s husband Matthew drove us all the way to the start of the Ridgeway for a modest fee. At the end of our walk he then drove out to the road by Liddington clump to pick us up.A great night;s sleep in very comfortable beds and a splendid full breakfast.
